Happy Memorial Day!

Growing up in the Bastian family, long weekend holidays, like this one, were spent working on the farm. Usually we were moving boards or an occasional rodeo. We laugh now and ask my folks if they are moving any boards. This weekend we didn't move any boards. Instead, we went over to Bissigger's to play on the water slide and have a BBQ. It was a little chilly but that didn't stop the kids from going in the water. We also rode bikes and of course went fishing. Like all long weekends it went by way too fast.

A Hog

Almost every night the kids want to go fishing with Dad. I think they have hooked every fish in the pond. They are learning how to fly fish and are becoming pros with the ultra light spinner. Last night they hooked a hog with the fly rode. It was the biggest Bass I have seen in the pond. Colby has to unhook the fish and put them back, he loves that job. It was so funny because he was so excited. I was happy that they didn't even want to bring it home. They just said good-by and tried to hook another hog.

ZOO trip

The kids love the National Zoo. They ask at least once a week if they can go. So we went on a family outing. DC on the weekends is busy and warm weekends crazy busy. We had to circle around the zoo 2 time (with 100 car) before any of the 5 parking lots had openings. It was a zoo before we even made it in. We had a picnic at the car. Then we were off. The kids like to see the Elephant house, the Sea Lions and Seals, The Octopus, The Ape House. This time we also went to Amazon Rain Forest. That was pretty cool. We didn't get to many pictures the animals were not very social. And we didn't see the Big Cats this time. We did go to the Barn to see the farm animals. It was funny to me to see people get giddy over a cow mooing. The kid had a blast and that was the best part.

The weekend.......

I had a Birthday and there was Mother's Day this weekend. The kids wanted to get mom a bike, so I could ride around with them. Plus that is what everyone has gotten for there birthdays this year. I had seen one that I have liked at a sporting goods store when we got the other bikes. I wanted well an old grandma bike one that was comfy and could get me around with the kids nothing fancy. It took most of the day to find one. It must have been a top mother's day gift. I was just able to take a photo today. We have had a ton of rain and flooding, 7 inches in 24 hours. We even had a Tornado last week it was about 40 mile from our house.

Idaho

We leave for Idaho in 37 day. I haven't been home in almost a year. I have missed it. We are making Virgina our home for now. I have enjoyed the mild weather and the beautiful spring. This last week I went to the DMV, it was an all day task, to get our Virgina plates and licence. It is funny to see my face on a Virgina drivers licence. My hole life I have only had Idaho's. Idaho will always be my home I just love it. I miss the mountain and how the roads are in 1 mile grids. (the photo is a view from Baley looking down at Sun Valley)
